Notes for Katharina "Katherine" Guttermann

Katharina Guttermann left Europe and came to America when she was 21 years old. She was a very good mother, and she treated her step-children as her own. She helped to manage the ranch, and cooked for about 25 people. She was a very strong, smart, loving and religious person. Moreover, she was good at sewing, gardening, entertaining, and taking care of the sick.

According to her son Vincent Guetterman, Katharina was an amazing woman that accomplished so much coming from Germany to a strange homesteading land with only her German dictionary, medical and recipe books. She quickly learned to speak and write english, and was excellent in everything she did.

Katharina Guttermann suffered a stroke on or about August 05, 1938, and died on August 10, 1938.
