Several relatives remember Roy Marvin Foote as being very tight with his money, and he apparently didn't share much of it with his wife and children. On one occasion his wife's mother and sister visited them, and they discovered the family had almost no food in the house. Consequently, his wife's mother and sister went out and purchased the family some groceries. His wife's mother became very upset over this, especially when she witnessed her daughter hand washing the laundry. This further resulted in his wife's mother purchasing a new electric clothes washer for them. Adding insult to injury, this apparently happened not long after Roy had returned home from a two-week vacation of hunting. Roy had killed an elk, and had paid to have the elk head stuffed and mounted.

The situation over money was so bad that Roy's wife was not allowed to use the telephone in calling long distance to talk with her own mother and siblings. As such, this further resulted in most of his wife's side of the family not liking Roy very much.

Nonetheless, many within the family remember Roy Marvin Foote as a kind and loving man. However, he did disown one of his own daughters when she married a Native American Indian.

Burial: Memorial Park Cemetery, Tucumcari, Quay County, New Mexico.
