On the 1940 US Census, the family is living in Carson Township, Noble County, Oklahoma.

Note: Elsie might not of been very nice to her husband, for she would tell a story about refusing to cook him a chicken dinner after he had worked on the farm all day. Years after his death, she tossed their wedding picture in the trash while her daughter (Jewel "Skeet" Ione Eck) was visiting her. The picture was slightly damaged, but it was recovered by her daughter (Jewel "Skeet" Ione Eck) and professionally repaired.
